Who likes Thai food? When we talk about Thai food what are some talking points that come up? Spicy, sour, salt, sweet, creamy and fragrant. That’s what comes to my mind when I hear Thai food.
Thai cuisine falls into 4 categories…loosely.
-Tom- Boiled dishes
-Yam- Spicy salads
-Tam- Pounded foods
-Kaeng- curries
Like most Asian cuisine, Thai people generally eat lightly prepared dishes that have very fragrant components, with a little spicy edge to them. Join Basil at The Arts Center as we start to explore the flavors of Thailand’s amazing cuisine. **Gluten free class**
Here are a few starters that we will showcase.
Tom Kha Gai and Thai Summer rolls.
Tom Kha Gai- A creamy chicken soup made with lemon grass and galangal and red chili’s.
Tom is boiling broth, Kha is galangal(root similar to ginger), and Gai is chicken.
Thai Summer rolls- mixed vegetables, rice noodles, shrimp, crab, mint, Basil, and mango all wrapped in rice paper. Everything is raw expect the proteins. Served with Nuoc Cham- traditional sweet and spicy dipping sauce. Can be made vegetarian or with beef upon request.
We will ease into the spiciness and let you decide if you can handle Thai spicy or not.
