Step One.
STEP ONE: PreK – 1ST GRADE
Step one is an adventure in early childhood education taking place on the first Saturday of the month. The purpose of Step One is to help practice fine motor skills and introduce young learners to interpreting visual language. Each session will start off with a reading from a children’s book followed by a guided crafting activity that utilizes the story as inspiration. Projects are developed for children ages 3 to 6. A guardian must attend with each child.
February 1: Step One – Chameleon Color Wheel
10:00 – 11:00am | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
Join us for an exciting morning of creativity and color! Students will explore the magic of color mixing as they craft their very own chameleon color wheels. Kids will learn how to blend primary colors to create new ones, just like a chameleon changes its colors to blend in with its surroundings. It’s a hands-on, colorful adventure where young artists can experiment, learn, and have fun with color in a creative way.
March 1: Step One – Dot Art
10:00 – 11:00am | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
Students are invited to join us for a fun and creative journey into the world of dot art! Using colorful dots, kids will explore key concepts of space and balance in visual art, learning how small elements can come together to create something big and beautiful. Through this hands-on activity, students will practice creating patterns, experimenting with color placement, and discovering how to balance their designs to make them visually appealing. April 5: Step One – Cut and Paste
10:00 – 11:00am | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
students will have a blast practicing their scissor safety skills while creating their very own unique collages! Kids will learn how to safely handle scissors to cut out shapes and images, then use their creativity to arrange and glue them into colorful, one-of-a-kind works of art. Registration will open soon!
May 3: Step One – Texture
10:00 – 11:00am | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
Explore the exciting world of texture by creating a sensory board! In this session, young artists will discover how different materials feel and look, and how textures can be used to bring art to life. From smooth to rough, soft to bumpy, students will have fun experimenting with various materials to add texture to their unique creations. Registration will open soon!
