Step One.
STEP ONE: PreK – 1ST GRADE
Step one is an adventure in early childhood education taking place on the first Saturday of the month. The purpose of Step One is to help practice fine motor skills and introduce young learners to interpreting visual language. Each session will start off with a reading from a children’s book followed by a guided crafting activity that utilizes the story as inspiration. Projects are developed for children ages 3 to 6. A guardian must attend with each child.
September 6: Step One – Paint like Pollock

“My 5-year-old could make that” prove it! Come learn about the organized chaos of Jackson Pollock and leave with your own Pollock-inspired masterpiece.
October 4: Step One – Papercut Portraits
10:00 – 11:00am OR 1:00-2:00pm | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
Time to bust out those scissors! This portrait-making session will challenge participants to make their own portraits out of all kinds of paper.
November 1: Step One – Paper Making and Marbling

An old favorite with a new twist. Explore color and texture while learning the traditional art of paper making and marbling.
December 6: Step One – Zentangles
10:00 – 11:00am OR 1:00-2:00pm | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
Patterns, patterns, patterns! In this class, the busier the better. Learn the craft of Zentangles and collaborative patternmaking.
