Step One.
STEP ONE: PreK – 1ST GRADE
Step one is an adventure in early childhood education taking place on the first Saturday of the month. The purpose of Step One is to help practice fine motor skills and introduce young learners to interpreting visual language. Each session will start off with a reading from a children’s book followed by a guided crafting activity that utilizes the story as inspiration. Projects are developed for children ages 3 to 6. A guardian must attend with each child.
February 7: Step One – Line Sculptures

Build your own garden of lines! Students will learn to shape the many different forms a line can take and arrange them into a silly, colorful, and complex sculpture.
March 7: Step One – Mondrian Art Boxes

What do all these squares mean? Come learn about the famed artist Piet Mondrian and build your own “modern” trinket box!
April 4: Step One – My First Print

Explore basic shapes, negative space, and the art of printmaking with recycled object collographs!
May 2: Step One – Play Dough Color Wheel
10:00 – 11:00am OR 1:00-2:00pm | Ages 3 – 6 | $10/$8 Member (per child)
Create your very own play dough in every color! Students will learn color theory by mixing their own dough and creating batches in every color.
